How does the School Checker work?
Our School Checker information is provided by a third party company called Experian, who collect and publish information from schools. If you click on the “School Checker” tab on the property details page, it will display all the local schools in the area. There is also further information on subscription status, Ofsted rating and age ranges for the schools listed on this page.
As of November 2025, Ofsted changed the way they rate and report on school performance. As of today, we surface this new data in our School Checker. However, if data under the new rating system is not yet available for that School (i.e. they haven't had an Ofsted report since Ofsted updated their rating system) the latest information under the old rating system will show instead.
How often is the School Checker information updated on Rightmove?
We update our School Checker information as soon as we receive the updates from Experian which is sent to us monthly.
For some information like Ofsted ratings, it can take up to 8 weeks, for the information to be provided to Experian, and in turn sent to us.
Is it possible to add Schools to the School Checker?
Absolutely. To have your school appear in School Checker you would need to have a profile with the Department of Education. Once your profile has been set up with them, the school information will be provided to Experian, who will then send it over to us and we will update the School Checker with your schools information.
How can I report incorrect information on School Checker?
If you come across information on our School Checker that you think is incorrect, please let us know.
We will then talk to Experian and double check the information we have is correct.
