How to get incorrect or missing Sale Price History updated

This guidance only applies to incorrect or missing sale price history. It does not apply to other property attributes or information displayed within Track My Property.

The source of sale price history differs depending on whether the property is located in England and Wales or Scotland.

England and Wales: HM Land Registry

Where does Sale Price History come from?

For properties in England and Wales, the sale price history displayed on Rightmove is supplied directly by HM Land Registry (HMLR) and is updated monthly.

There are some records that HM Land Registry does not share with Rightmove, which HM Land Registry refers to as Category B sales. For more information about these records, we recommend contacting HM Land Registry directly.

Check the Sale Price History held by HM Land Registry

If the sale price history for your property is incorrect or missing on Rightmove, we recommend checking the information held by HM Land Registry first.

This check is specifically for sale price history. HM Land Registry should not be used to verify other property information displayed within Track My Property.

To check:

  1. Visit the HM Land Registry website.
  2. Enter the property's postcode.
  3. Select Show results.
  4. Find the relevant address.
  5. Check whether the sale price history is correct.

If the sale price history is also incorrect or missing with HM Land Registry, you will need to contact HM Land Registry so they can investigate and, where appropriate, correct their record.

Rightmove receives this information directly from HM Land Registry, so we cannot amend the source sale price history ourselves.

Once HM Land Registry corrects the record and provides the updated information to Rightmove, the change will be reflected within the property's sale price history.

If the Sale Price History is correct with HM Land Registry

If the sale price history held by HM Land Registry is correct but the sale price history shown on Rightmove is different, please contact our Customer Experience team so we can investigate.

Scotland: Registers of Scotland

Where does Sale Price History come from?

For properties in Scotland, sale price history is sourced separately through Registers of Scotland, rather than HM Land Registry.

Check the Sale Price History held by Registers of Scotland

If the sale price history for a property in Scotland is incorrect or missing on Rightmove, the relevant sale price information should first be checked against Registers of Scotland.

This check is specifically for sale price history. Registers of Scotland should not be used to verify other property attributes displayed within Track My Property.

If the Sale Price History is incorrect with Registers of Scotland

If the sale price history held by Registers of Scotland is incorrect or missing, you will need to contact Registers of Scotland about the source information.

Rightmove cannot amend the source sale price history ourselves.

If the Sale Price History is correct with Registers of Scotland

If the sale price history held by Registers of Scotland is correct but Rightmove is displaying different information, please contact our Customer Experience team so we can investigate.
