HomeViews is a resident review platform that launched in 2018 to help you understand what it is really like to live at a development.
HomeViews is now part of Rightmove. Resident reviews for purpose-built rental developments are displayed alongside property information on Rightmove.
You may still see the HomeViews name on review invitations, advertising or marketing materials. This FAQ explains how HomeViews reviews work, how you can leave a review, how reviews are verified and moderated, and how Star Ratings are calculated.

How it works
Why am I seeing HomeViews on Rightmove?
HomeViews was originally where resident reviews were collected and displayed.
You may still see the HomeViews name on review invitations, advertising or marketing materials. The reviews themselves are now displayed alongside property information on Rightmove.
Can I trust HomeViews reviews?
Reviews are designed to give you an authentic view of what it is like to live at a development.
Reviews are checked against Rightmove's review guidelines. Reviewers can also be verified to confirm their connection to the development.
Verified and unverified reviews are clearly labelled. Verified reviews carry more weight when calculating a development's Star Rating.
Who can leave a review?
Reviews are for residents sharing their own genuine experience of living at a development.
As part of the review and verification process, you'll be asked for information including your name, address and flat number.
How do I leave a review?
If you're a resident, you can submit your feedback using the digital review form.
You'll be asked about your experience of living at the development and for details that help with the verification process.
When writing your review:
- Share your own experience of living at the development.
- Explain what you liked and anything you think could be improved.
- Keep your comments honest, clear and helpful.
- Do not include personal attacks, private information or promotional content.
- Do not comment on experiences that are not your own.
What happens after I submit my review?
Your review goes through verification and moderation before publication.
It is checked against Rightmove's review guidelines. If changes are needed before your review can be published, the Reviews team will contact you and give you an opportunity to update it.
How long does it take for my review to appear?
Reviews are generally moderated and published within a few days.
During busy periods, moderation can take up to 7 days. Reviews are not moderated at weekends or on Bank Holidays.
How is my review verified?
The details you provide are checked against trusted data sources to confirm your connection to the development.
If your residency cannot be confirmed automatically, you can be asked to verify it using:
- proof of address; or
- a one-time geolocation check.
You will be sent a link to complete the verification yourself.
What happens if my review cannot be verified automatically?
You'll be contacted and given the option to verify your residency using proof of address or a one-time geolocation check.
Verification must be completed by the resident using the link provided.
Will my personal information appear with my review?
No. Your personal details are used for verification and are not shared publicly.
Only your chosen display name will appear alongside your review.
Can an unverified review still be published?
Yes. Both verified and unverified reviews can be displayed.
They are clearly labelled to help you understand their verification status. Verified reviews carry more weight when calculating a development's Star Rating.
Does Rightmove edit reviews?
Rightmove does not rewrite reviews.
If your review does not meet the review guidelines, you can be contacted and asked to make changes before it is published.
Reviews and responses that do not meet the guidelines can also be removed.
Can the development respond to my review?
Yes. Operators can respond to both positive and negative reviews through the Reviews Portal.
The Reviews team checks the response before it is published alongside your review on Rightmove.
How quickly will a response from a development appear?
Once an operator submits a response, the Reviews team checks it before publication.
Responses are targeted to appear on Rightmove listings within 2 working days.
How is a development's Star Rating calculated?
Star Ratings use review scores across six areas:
- Overall
- Facilities
- Design
- Location
- Value
- Management
Recent reviews have greater influence on the rating. Verified reviews also carry more weight than unverified reviews.
Why do recent reviews matter more?
Recent reviews are more likely to reflect what a development is like today.
Reviews from the current year receive full weighting. This reduces to:
- 75% after one year
- 50% after two years
This means improvements at a development can be reflected more quickly in its Star Rating.
Why are resident reviews important?
Resident reviews can give you information that property descriptions and photography cannot provide on their own: the experience of people who live at the development.
They can help you understand areas such as management, facilities and day-to-day living, making it easier to compare developments.
Information for rental operators
Rental operators can use the Reviews Portal, also known as the Developer or Partner Portal, to:
- view feedback;
- respond to reviews;
- monitor ratings;
- identify trends; and
- download review data and charts for reporting.
Rightmove recommends an ongoing, "always-on" approach to collecting reviews rather than occasional review drives. A regular flow of feedback helps keep reviews relevant.
Rightmove recommends aiming for verified reviews equal to at least 10% of residents at development or brand level each year. For example, a 350-unit development would aim for around 35 reviews a year, or roughly three each month.
Operators can encourage residents to leave reviews through personalised emails, newsletters, QR codes, posters, welcome packs, digital screens and conversations with residents.
Reviews can also be used in marketing, including operator websites, social media, digital advertising, video content and physical advertising around developments.
If you experience an error
Why hasn't my review been published?
Every review is checked against Rightmove's review guidelines before publication.
Your review can require changes if it:
- contains inappropriate or abusive language;
- includes personal or private information;
- contains promotional content;
- does not provide enough useful detail; or
- does not meet the review guidelines for another reason.
If changes are needed, the Reviews team will contact you and give you an opportunity to update your review.
What if I cannot complete verification?
If your residency cannot be verified automatically, you will be given the option to provide proof of address or complete a one-time geolocation check.
The verification must be completed by the resident using the link provided.
If you continue to have problems, use the support contact provided with your review or verification communication.
When contacting support, include:
- the development you reviewed;
- the email address you used when submitting your review;
- what you were trying to do; and
- details of the problem or error you experienced.
Do not include sensitive personal information unless you are specifically asked to provide it through an appropriate verification process.
